Why The Design Day Club?
The Club opened the summer of 2025 out of a passion for graphic design, teaching, and mentoring. The Club adds a unique option for parents and children that never existed before: A creative space that's flexible and free from tight registration deadlines, schedules, and advance planning. Groups are small, which contributes to a friendly and collaborative environment. The fun and creative large room we currently use engages kids, where they imprint their names on a board and earn a pin every time they complete a design project.
What is the age range to attend a session of The Club?
The current age range is 8-12 years old.
How much is each session?
Sessions are $110 per student, per day.
What's the schedule for each session?
Sessions are 9 AM - 1 PM on days in which DC public schools are closed.
Where is The Club located?
The Club currently gathers at founder's studio in the neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, in Washington, DC.
Why do you only offer a few sessions this season?
Because we only open when DC public schools are closed.
Who can attend The Design Day Club?
The current cohort is for kids ages 8-12 at the moment, with 5 participants per day. Stay tuned if new cohorts open up.
What's a day at The Club like?
This is sample schedule:
9 AM | Arrival, welcome
9:15 -10:45 AM | 1st block: Theme intro & sketching
10:45 - 11 AM | Snack break (bring one)
11 AM - 12 PM | 2nd block: Creating & designing
12 - 12:30 PM | Lunch (bring your own) & movement
12:30 - 12:55 PM | 3rd block: Completion and constructive critic
1 PM | Dismissal (it may include petting our dog, Sadie :)
Is there a discount for multiple dates selected at once?
Yes, you get 15% off if you register with a sibling for the same session.
Groups are 5 participants per session.
Are projects different each day or do they repeat?
Projects are different in each day session. Although we might repeat the project but with a different theme. For example, if we design a poster for protecting gardens one day, we might design another poster with a different theme or design style in another occasion.
Is there after care?
No, there is no after care offered at the moment.
Will you have new age cohorts available?
We don't have another age cohort at the moment but please stay tuned if our program expands. Send us an email and we'll keep you posted!
Do you host The Design Day Club in other locations?
Yes, we are an after-school enrichment provider at public schools in Washington, DC for school year 2025-26 this Spring. We also partner with organizations (Bring Your Kid to Work Day) and school events. Contact us for more information.
The Club is registered with the DCPS School Partnership Database as a provider. The lead instructor holds a valid DC Public School clearance and background check.
